Background Investigation Unit
The Background Investigation Unit is part of the Investigative Support Section of the Division of Police. The Unit is responsible for conducting a thorough background investigation of all applicants for positions within the Division of Police. This includes police officers, communications officers, Central Records personnel, and Staff Assistants. The purpose of the investigation is to determine if the applicant is suitable for hiring and to determine if they meet the hiring guidelines set by the Urban County Government. In addition to Police personnel, the Unit also conducts background investigations on Deputy Constables and Taxicab Operators.
