Neighborhood Watch
Through the Neighborhood Watch program, residents in a neighborhood can work together to prevent residential burglaries and other crimes. The Community Services Section (258-3636) will help set up a Neighborhood Watch program in your area.
Guide to the Noise Ordinance
The Division of Police responds to approximately 8,000 noise disturbance calls each year. This accounts for 5% of our overall calls for service. Violations occur primarily at night when serious crime problems are prevalent. While we do not handle these calls on a priority basis like assaults, robberies and burglaries, they nonetheless prove to be a significant drain on our resources. The information provided on this web site is general in regard to the official Lexington-Fayette Urban County Noise Ordinance. Please refer to an official printing if clarification is necessary.
Revised City Ordinance 14-70 through 14-80 was enacted by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government on July 1, 1982. Violation of any provision calls for a fine of not less than $25.00 and not to exceed $500.00.

- Parking on Sidewalks or in Yards: It is unlawful to park any vehicle on the sidewalk, utility strip or other area designated for pedestrian use. It is also unlawful to park in the front or side yard of a corner lot except on an approved residential driveway.
- Snow Emergency Routes: A disabled vehicle or car parked along one of these roadways could create traffic congestion and prohibit necessary snow plowing. Parking and travel are restricted along these routes when the city is under a Snow Emergency.
